The Truth Of American Dream

The American dream is get wealth in new country. Gatsby's story shows the bad side of the American dream. Once he was wealthy, everyone liked him and his party, they wanted to come to Gatsby's party and hang with him, he was famous. Gatsby achieved American dream but when he died no one cared about him. Only reporter came to asking about his behind stories. This shows that people didn't really care about person , they only liked person's wealth. How sad that no one is showing up at funeral. Daisy just went to trip after the bad things happen, which means she didn't care what would happen to Gatsby. "Look here, old sport, you've got to get somebody for me. You've got to try hard. I can't go through this alone." (165) This quote tells that Gatsby already knew that no one will come to his funeral but Nick will. Here is my question. Is Daisy really loved Gatsby him self or she just liked the money he had? Is American dream is only considered about money, not person it self? While I reading The Great Gatsby I learned that money is not all. We need better person next to me, who really care about me, like Nick did.
I liked this book, I learned that money is not all, and I need good person. I also learned that don't spend too much time in one thing, we need plan B.

Wilson found the suspect

In chapter 7 Myrtle died, and in chapter 8 Wilson found the suspect who he thinks killed Myrtle. Wilson was so sad about Myrtle's death. He tried to find person who killed her and he heard that Gatsby's name from others; he thought that Gatsby drove the yellow car,and he knew that yellow car stroke Myrtle. While Michaelis was gone, Wilson went to Gatsby's house to kill him. Gatsby was in the pool and Wilson just came and shot him. After Gatsby died, Nick and Gatsby's gardener found him is dead in the pool. "If that was true he must have felt that he had lost the old warm world, paid a high price for living too long with a single dream" (161) This quote says that Gatsby's long dream, which is getting Daisy back, is over. His dream costed lots of money and times. I think it is kind of happy ending for Gatsby because he has no desire to live, and his dream which planned for 5 years is failed. He lost the reason to live, and he has no dream.

Lunch At Daisy's House

Daisy invited Gatsby and Nick to her house for lunch. When Tom got drinks, the situation got bad. Tom and Gatsby was angry to each other and Gatsby said that Daisy never love Tom at all; he said that Daisy loves Gatsby. "Why - how could I love him - possibly?" (132) Daisy told Tom that she never loved him. Tom got in panic. After all that happened they went back to Long Island, Tom, Nick, and Jordan got in one car and Gatsby and Daisy got in another car. When Tom, Nick and Jordan went to see Wilson, they heard that her wife was hit by yellow coupe, Daisy drove that car. After all that happened, Gatsby stayed next to Daisy's house to see whether Tom is hitting Daisy or not because Daisy said that she doesn't love Tom.
Myrtle is Tom's lover. Tom probably think that Gatsby stroke her. I think Tom will do something to Gatsby to revenge, or George will do something to Gatsby. We'll see that in next chapter.

After Awkward Meeting

We knew that Gatsby and Daisy were in love before the war. In this chapter Nick arrange a meeting that Gatsby and Daisy can meet again. They had awkward moment during the tea, and Gatsby invited Nick and Daisy over to his house. Daisy was amazed by size of Gatsby's house, and  Daisy and Gatsby had good time at Gatsby's house. I think Gatsby can make Daisy happier than Tom does, Nick thought same. "His had took hold of hers, and as she said something low in his ear he turned toward her with rush of emotion. I think that voice held him most, with its fluctuating, feverish warmth, because it couldn't be over-dreamed - that voice was a deathless song." (pg.96) Think they already have fell to each other like they did before. I would do that if I met person I have really loved before, I would be extremely nervous and happy. I hope they end with good ending, and I don't want Nick to get in Gatsby's business, which Gatsby have asked.

Strange Man

People were talked about all the rumors about Gatsby in chapter 3. In chapter 4 there was clue about the rumors about Gatsby. While Gatsby and Nick were walking the street they met a man called Mr.Wolfsheim. He seems like a gangster and he was a gambler and also Gatsby's business connection. Mr Wolfsheim said "I understand you're looking for a business gonnegtion." (p.70) and Gatsby was stunned and said to him Nick is not finding business connections. Gatsby said that he got money from his parent after the war but I think he got that money from inappropriate way. Mr.Wolfsheim kept try to get Nick in his business. That makes me more suspicious about Gatsby. Why Gatsby working with man who policeman try to arrest? Where Gatsby got money form? Which fact that Gatsby told is true and which is false? I hope find another clue about Gatsby next chapter.

Move to East Coast

In first chapter of The Great Gatsby, Nick is introduced. Book introduce him as nonjudgmental person, who don't judge someone by his own eye and thought. Since narrator is nonjudgmental person, it makes us to know truth of person. Nick never say neither someone is good or someone is bad.He was lived in Minnesota, in middle part of United State. After he graduate Yale he decided to move to East coast, to West Eggs. In West Egg, there was lots of new moneys. When he got in to Tom's mansion, he felt not good, he seems uncomfortable in fancy house. I would feel that to when I go to fancy house with expansive decorations. Nick met Tom, Daisy, and Jordan at dinner. Tom was Nick's alumnus from college, and Daisy is his cousin. Daisy lives under Tom's command because Tom was strict and violent man. I think Nick fell to Jordan because Daisy and Tom keep stayed together. So, Nick just stick with Jordan and he started to felling to her. Jordan mentioned about Gatsby and Nick wanted to know more about Gatsby. Chapter 1 shows that Nick's feeling about East, West Eggs, and he felt he isn't belong there, seems he doesn't like the  life in there, like all the fancy stuff in there, and way the rich people live.
